For 26 years anchoring the NBC “Today” show, Hoda Kotb is planning for her exit on January 10, 2025. In her last episodes, Kotb has hugged her co-hosts and viewers and touched upon her important work as a TV host.
During a recent Secret Santa exchange, co-host Savannah Guthrie presented Kotb with a heartfelt gift: wishing candles and a framed line from a song by Josh Garrels, “May you find the light to guide you home.” This brought Kotb to tears, proving how much the co-anchors love each other, ©Loving Today #CoHosts #KathieLeeGifford @KathieLeeGifford @TodayShow @HodaKotb.
Kotb left the show to be able to spend more time with her daughters, Haley and Hope, and appreciate things such as walking them to school. She said this was prompted by her desire to start this new chapter after she reached 60.
While out of the office, Craig Melvin will fill Savannah Guthrie’s shoes and be the co-host of the “Today” show for the earlier slots. The fourth hour with Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager will be replaced by ‘Today with Jenna & Friends, ’ a new show with guest co-hosts until a permanent host is chosen.
In her last moments, Kotb seems to continue stuff with her co-hosts in the same jig that we have seen her grow to love. Her leaving means an end to a major chapter in not only the history of the “Today” show but also of dedicated, warm, and professional broadcasts and stories.
